March 18-22, 2018
The Westin Long Beach
Long Beach, CA

Dear CPCA Attendees:
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the City of Long Beach as we host the 41st Annual California Police Chief’s Association Training Conference.  Long Beach is a vibrant city with a rich history and a beautiful waterfront location.  We look forward to you spending the week with us, as we highlight some of the many venues and activities that our community has to offer.
Law enforcement is facing unprecedented challenges and expectations and the need for 21st Century leadership is more important than ever.  This year’s conference theme, “Navigating an Evolving Profession” pays tribute to the ongoing efforts of all law enforcement leaders to develop strategies and solutions to manage continuously evolving legal, political, and operational issues.  These challenges are further compounded by the speed and nature of today’s communication platforms and the continuing development of new technologies that impact our profession.
We are working closely with CPCA to bring you a wide range of training topics that are relevant to the current issues facing our profession today.  These sessions will be complimented by a comprehensive trade show that will highlight the latest trends in equipment and technology and additional resources available to help position your agency for continued productivity and success.
The Long Beach Police Department is committed to building “Public Safety through Partnerships” and that includes building professional partnerships with our colleagues throughout the state.  We hope that you, and members of your agency, will join us in March as we collaborate to identify new and innovative ways to navigate the ever changing social and operational environment of modern policing.
Robert G. Luna
