Salary: Up to $129,800 Annual Salary

Description:
Under the general direction of the Chief of Police or a Police Captain, a Police Lieutenant provides command level management to a division or unit within the Department. The Lieutenant is responsible for planning, directing, and managing the assigned activities of a division or unit of the department and performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Note: Medical examination, psychological evaluation, fingerprinting and background check and a Valid California Drivers License required:

  • Eligible internal University of California Police Department Police Sergeants with at least 2 years of UCPD service at that rank or currently employed as a UCPD Police Lieutenant.
  • Eligible candidates who are outside the University of California must be currently employed as a Police Lieutenant or be at the rank of Police Sergeant for at least 5 years.
  • Must possess current California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Advanced and Supervisory certificates.
  • Working knowledge of state of the art police and security management methods, philosophies, law enforcement practices and legal issues; technical knowledge of computerized systems which support the wide variety of applications used in the law enforcement and business professions.
