University of California - San Francisco Police Department ~ Police Officer
Salary: Up To $79,884 per year PLUS incentive pay

Leaves:

Retirement:
- Automatic vesting after 5 years of service in the UC Retirement Plan; 3% at 50 with non-contributory status by employee. (PERS reciprocity and limited reciprocity available-see www.calpers.ca.gov for eligibility requirements)
- 100% of sick leave converted to service credit upon retirement
- 50% of health plan paid by UC with just 10 years of service and up to 100% contribution with 20 years of service for employee and eligible family members.
UC Tuition:
- Eligible employees pay only 1/3 of tuition fees at any UC campus.
Incentive pay:
- POST Certification; up to an additional $3,300/year
- Numerous Specialty Assignments, including Training Officer, Detective, Bike Patrol, Bomb Dog Handler, Traffic Enforcement; up to $3,000/year dependent on assignment

The University of California, San Francisco Police Department provides contemporary police services including criminal investigation, community policing, crime prevention and suppression, emergency management, and site security services to a daily population of approximately 33,000 people. UCSF, which encompasses more than 15 major sites in San Francisco in addition to its Parnassus Heights location above Golden Gate Park, also includes UCSF Mount Zion and maintains partnerships with two affiliated institutions, San Francisco General Hospital Medical Center and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. UCSF’s newest campus is a world class biomedical research facility located at Mission Bay across from the SF Giants AT&T Park.
DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of a Sergeant, Police Officers are expected to perform regular law enforcement duties including: foot, bicycle and vehicle patrol of 15 major University of California sites and nearby residential areas, investigate and prepare preliminary investigation reports, issue citations, make arrests, assist in the prosecution of violators of law, provide crime prevention information and serve as a proactive resource to a uniquely diverse community. Officers may also work as part of a security detail with civilian and other law enforcement agencies at university and athletic events. Officers have the opportunity to participate in a number of assignments such as bicycle patrol, various training instructors, detectives, backgrounds, crime prevention, field training officer, accident investigator and various lead officer positions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse public consisting of students, faculty, staff, visitors from around the world and immediate surrounding communities.
- At least 21 years old at time of appointment, possess a High School Diploma or equivalent with preference for a P.O.S.T Basic Certificate or P.O.S.T. Academy graduate certification
- Possess a Valid California Drivers License.
- Ability to pass medical and psychological examinations and extensive background investigation.
- Analytical and decision making skills to identify problems, weigh solutions, recognize alternatives and their implications independently and quickly.
- Skill in writing descriptive reports and computer skills desirable.
