"Do agencies require a blood draw when officers are involved in an officer involved shooting."
    • 29 - Agencies responded
    • 17 - Agencies only take blood with reasonable suspicion or cause
    • 6 - Agencies do not take blood at all
    • 3 - Agencies do mandate blood draws in these situations
    • 3 - Agencies do not have any policy on this situation

Several of the agencies reported that they allow or encourage officers to voluntarily submit to a blood withdrawal after a critical incident but the main issue was whether agencies forced officers to submit to such a sample.

Fontana Police Department would like to thank all the agencies and their representatives that took the time to help examine this issue. If anyone has any specification questions feel free to contact Fontana Police Captain Tim Newsome at (909) 356-7175.
