Chief Annibali’s law enforcement career began in 1978 and has spanned the country from California, to Colorado, Pennsylvania and back to California.
He began his career with the Los Angeles Police Department and served many years with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department rising through the ranks to Lieutenant. Chief Annibali was recruited to Colorado and later served as Chief of Police in the ski area of Breckenridge, Colorado. He served as Breckenridge’s Chief for just over three years before accepting the Chief’s position in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. After nearly seven years in Ephrata, Chief Annibali returned to his home state of California when he was selected to serve as Chief of Police for the City of Arroyo Grande in 2007.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command, the University of Colorado Western Police Institute and both the California and FBI Executive Development Programs.
Chief Annibali has been an active member of the community along with professional associations such as the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, the California Police Chiefs Association and the California Peace Officers Association. He is also the Past Chair of the Criminal Justice Administrators’ Association of San Luis Obispo County.
During his active career, Chief Annibali was selected to serve on the prominent Professional Standards, Image and Ethics Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) which is responsible for establishing law enforcement professional and ethical standards nationwide. He currently is a “Life Member” of the IACP.
Chief Annibali retired from active service in August of 2017 after serving more than 40 years in public safety. At the time of his retirement, Chief Annibali was considered one of the most senior chiefs in the State of California after serving over 20 years as a Chief of Police. He currently serves as a Training Facilitator / Instructor for the California Police Chiefs Association.
Chief Annibali retired to the Olympic Peninsula outside of Sequim, Washington with his wife Deb where they are enjoying an active outdoor life.
