Trista Kennedy

& Course Facilitator and Instructor

Trista Kennedy is the Executive Assistant to Chief Derrek Kaff at the Woodland Police Department. She has worked in law enforcement for the past 15 years. She began her career as a police officer and field-training officer for 6 years. She then transitioned to being a non-sworn Volunteer Coordinator managing the Department’s Volunteers in Policing program. She has also been the Department’s Social Media Coordinator. In 2017, Trista was promoted to the Chief’s Executive Assistant. Trista has started many community and youth programs to include the Special Needs Alert Program (SNAP), the UNIDOS program, the Youth Public Safety Academy, the Citizen Police Academy, the Safe Exchange Zone and more. Trista was previously a member of the Department’s Crime Scene Investigations Team. She is currently an active member of the Department’s Social Media Team.

Trista is a mother of four school-aged daughters. She works part time for a non-profit summer band camp, Donner Mine Music Camp. She is currently a senior at Columbia Southern University pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management. Trista is bilingual in Spanish.

Trista is excited to be joining the California Police Chiefs Association team of instructors. She has a passion and love for being an Executive Assistant in law enforcement. She is hopeful she will be able to help ignite the passion for this rewarding career in others.
