Annual Training Symposium

Welcome to the CPCA Annual Training Symposium & Technology Summit

The symposium's goal is to continue to provide dynamic, contemporary training presented by subject matter experts in their fields and designed to help develop both Chiefs and their Seconds in Command. The 45th Annual Training Symposium (ATS) will be held on February 7-10, 2022 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Sacramento, CA. We are looking forward to our first in-person ATS since 2019! This year we are making good use of the first day by combining our Annual Training Symposium with our Technology Summit. Trust us, you will not want to miss it so consider registering for both events! 

ATS Registration includes: Up to 13 POST CPT Credits, 15 workshops and 3 keynotes to choose from, participation in the tradeshow & all meal functions and social activities!

COVID-19 Requirements

As of January 15, 2022
Update on COVID Protocols for attendees at ATS:

  • Lowered threshold for Indoor Mega Event to 500 attendees and Outdoor Mega Event to 5,000 attendees.

Mega Events are characterized by large crowds greater than 500 indoor OR 5,000 outdoor attendees. 

Per the Beyond the Blueprint for Industry and Business Sectors (Including Mega Events) issued on January 14, 2022, scheduled to begin January 15, 2022, California will require proof of full vaccination or a negative PCR or Antigen COVID-19 test  to attend any indoor events with more than 500 attendees

To pick up your ATS conference credentials to attend the sessions, all registrants, speakers, sponsors and vendors will be required to provide the following onsite

  • Verification of fully vaccinated status* or pre-entry negative test** result is required of all attendees.
  • Testing must be conducted within one day for an antigen test and within two days for a PCR test prior to entry into an event. Results of the test must be available prior to entry into the facility or venue.
  • Verification: See current  CDPH Updated Testing Guidance for acceptable methods of proof of negative COVID-19 test result. 
  • All businesses and venue operators must check the identification of all attendees age 18 and over to validate their vaccination record or proof of negative test.
  • Acceptable identification is any document that includes the name of the person and photograph.
  • Attendees must follow CDPH Guidance for Face Coverings.


The overall attire for the symposium is business casual. We encourage that attendees wear class A uniforms for the Opening Ceremony. The installation banquet is business attire.
