Partnering for the Success of Your City: A Course for Police Chiefs and City Managers

Few city government relationships are more important than the partnership between the city manager and police chief. It's a relationship that sets the tone and serves as a powerful symbol of staff alignment and professionalism. Therefore, the manager-chief team must be at its best! This highly interactive course covers such topics as:

  • Roles, needs, and expectations
  • Politics and elected officials
  • Communication: day-to-day and in crisis
  • Trust: The Secret Sauce!
  • Community relations & engagement
  • Current & emerging issues
  • The most effective managers & chiefs
"Public safety is a foundation of any community and how well the City Manager and Police Chief work together is critical.  This workshop provides an invaluable opportunity for City Managers and Police Chiefs to discuss current public safety issues and our unique roles and relationships that are key to ensuring a safe community." - Matt Bronson, City Manager, City of Grover Beach
"The course content was excellent and the trainers created a very positive environment for discussing roles, relationships and issues that we seldom have time for in the daily whirlwind of demands. I highly recommend this workshop - especially for those in new chief-city manager relationships." - Tom Chaplin, Police Chief, Walnut Creek Police Department
