Critical Considerations for the Police Executive

Formerly known as “Succeeding as a Police Chief”, participants in Critical Considerations for the Police Executive will learn and discuss myriad philosophies, approaches, pitfalls, and considerations inherent to common successes and failures of contemporary police executive leadership.

During the course, highly esteemed instructors with national, state, and local portfolios in policing leadership will drive the exchange of thought-provoking concepts, experiences, and strategies—the tools every police executive needs to effectively steward their organization through the critical challenges facing the policing profession in general, and individual police agencies specifically. The course material delivers compelling wisdom for the police executive’s success, including considerations on how to propel a vision for the organization, shape agency culture, navigate through controversy, and deliver on the demands of a community.

The high-quality content of Critical Considerations for the Police Executive serves as a milestone opportunity for upper-level police leaders who seek to earn their Executive Leadership Certification from the California Police Chiefs Association - a program committed to advancing the policing profession through inspiring and strengthening our law enforcement leaders. This course can be attended as a standalone course, but is best taken as a compelling and philosophical compliment to the other required courses of the ECLP.

“This course was outstanding. Instructors are credible and provided real world examples. They were able to get class discussion and input with ease. I will be sending other command staff members based on my experience here.”
