Professional Bio

Serving his community since 1998, Jim is the Chief of Police for the Grover Beach Police Department, a progressive police department on the Central Coast of California. Prior to joining the Grover Beach Police Department, Jim spent 23 years with the Clovis Police Department located in the Central Valley of California.

As a former Dispatcher, Detective, SWAT member, and experienced Public Information Officer, Jim enjoys using his experience to help lead a 21st-century police organization into the future. Jim has a passion for technology in law enforcement and is recognized as a subject matter expert in the field. He serves on the California Police Chief’s Association Technology Committee and has previously served on the Communications Committee.

Jim is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and he has a master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego. Additionally, he is a graduate of class #403 of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.

In his free time, Jim enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, skiing, and playing beach volleyball.
