Professional Bio

As Chief of Police for the Rio Dell Police Department, I bring over 16 years of law enforcement experience shaped by service in the Fortuna and Arcata Police Departments, and the U.S. Navy. My leadership is grounded in integrity, accountability, and strong community engagement.

Since taking command, I have focused on modernizing the department culturally and operationally. I led the launch of the Blue Envelope Program with the Rio Dell Community Resource Center—supporting safe, informed interactions between first responders and individuals with autism, developmental delays, or physical impairments. This is one example of our commitment to inclusive policing.

I’ve worked to raise expectations and rebuild pride in the department by overhauling training, restoring morale, and implementing updated policy systems. We are now aligned with POST standards, and employees are held to clear, professional expectations—ensuring high-quality service to the public.

Prior to becoming Chief, I served as a Sergeant, leading patrol teams through high-risk incidents and investigations. My leadership has always emphasized collaboration, mentorship, and data-informed, community-based policing.

Before law enforcement, I served as an E-5 Operations Specialist in the U.S. Navy during Operation Enduring Freedom. I maintained a real-time tactical link providing command staff with critical situational awareness, earning the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

I am a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute and a lifelong learner. My mission is to lead a department that is professional, adaptive, and deeply connected to the people we serve.
