Today’s police executives are expected to step into a very different kind of leadership role. The job is no longer just about running an organization. Executives must lead people, make decisions in high-pressure environments, navigate conflict, communicate with very different audiences, and build support for their priorities.

This three-day course focuses on what it takes to make that transition and lead effectively at the executive level.

Participants will examine their own leadership identity and what changes when they move into an executive role. They will explore executive presence, curiosity, decision-making, and the mindset required to lead when the stakes are high and conditions are difficult or uncertain.

A significant portion of the course focuses on leading people. Participants will learn practical approaches for building trust, setting expectations, holding people accountable, coaching employees, navigating difficult conversations, and creating an environment where people can perform at their best.

The course also develops one of the most important tools an executive has: the ability to communicate and influence. Participants will learn how to understand their audience, anticipate resistance, simplify complex issues, tell a compelling story, use data effectively, and communicate in ways that move people toward action.
